Botanical Dye

Color

All of our shawls and altar cloths are naturally dyed. The colors of the Earth are what inspires us to create, simply to connect to the beauty and magnificence of the botanical world. We believe that surrounding ourselves with beauty, especially beautiful natural color, brings a vibrancy into our lives.

Quest

The world of Natural dye found me in a deeply gray time of my life. The colors called out to me, and acted as a form of therapy to my heart and spirit. Like a bird to a flower, I was drawn to learn this ancient practice of dyeing fabric.

Vision

The vision of Inanna came through in a conversation between my mother (Joan) and myself (Mackenzie). As I was exploring the botanical dyes, I deeply wanted to share these colors with the world. And the seed of Inanna was born! Together we could recreate my most special & sacred shawl .

Devotion

When we said YES to this creative endeavor, the name Inanna flowed through us, along with a deeper mission and devotion to the divine feminine. We had no idea, and are still discovering the potency of INANNA, who is much greater than either of us. We hope to be reverent stewards of her mission.

Botanical

All our garments are naturally dyed by botanical elements such as flowers, leaves, barks or seeds or kitchen waste such as onion skin, turmeric peels or avocado peels and pits.

The resulting color of each individual dye material is enormously complex and can never be reproduced. â€‹

Living Garments

Natural Dye has an unparalleled depth and dimension made from organic matter. Each item is one of a kind & naturally dyed.

Slight variations in color, tone, and texture are something to be celebrated.  It is what defines the beautiful & natural character of plant-dyed textiles.

Overtime, raw silk becomes more and more soft to touch.  Treat your "Living" garments with love and care.
