Hi, Mackenzie & Joan here, we are the makers behind Inanna. We are a Mother & Daughter duo. Each garment has been cut and sewn by Joan & naturally dyed by Mackenzie.
Inanna was birthed from a deep desire to bring the subtle, yet profound power of natural color, into our daily lives.
But the story begins many years ago.

When I (Mackenzie) was gifted my first prayer shawl, it came with an important message. This is no ordinary shawl, it is a protective adult "baby blanket" to hold me whenever I need some support and a loving hug. It is infused with intentions of kindness and compassion, fierce love and sovereignty.

This shawl & my friend's message travelled with me through many years of living nomadically and eventually to where I live now, in Northern California.
​
One day, after some challenging times in my inner landscape, I knew something needed to change, so I began a morning meditation practice. Each day I would begin in the arms of this shawl.
​
It became a piece of power for me, charged up with the intention of presence. Anytime I would place the shawl on my crown or around my shoulders, it would bring me into a place of deep presence and remembrance of who I am.
​
My meditation practice comes and goes, but any moment that I feel I am falling too far away from myself & my center, I can wrap myself in it, light a candle, and sit with my breath.
I come home to myself.

We created Inanna because we felt a strong calling to offer this special shawl to you!

We started cutting, sewing, and dyeing raw silk shawls and were an immediate success!
It appears that we are not alone in our desire to have a power piece, such as a meditation shawl, to wrap us in each morning to begin our day in beauty, presence, and devotion.
